New sprint star Cameron Gray burst onto the New Zealand and international swimming scene as a senior at the 2022 New Zealand Championships and promptly followed that up with a bronze medal in the 50m fly on his Commonwealth Games debut at Birmingham 2022.
In April 2023, at the New Zealand Open Champs, he equaled his Commonwealth Games time in the 50 Fly and broke the New Zealand 100m freestyle record to go under the 2024 Paris Olympic qualifying mark. Unfortunately, this wasn’t a qualifying meet and he’ll have to at least repeat the result at the next Olympic trials, but it is undeniably evidence that he’s got the form.
Results like these earned him nomination to the 2023 Aquablacks team for this year’s (2023’s) World Aquatics Championships in July at Fukuoka, Japan. He will contest the 50m
Coached by Olympian Andy McMillan, Cameron competes across the 50m Fly, 200m, 100m, 50m Free, Men's 100 Freestyle and 50m Backstroke and has an impressive list of national titles and national age group records to his name.
