Fencing

Elsie Lin's journey in fencing has been marked by resilience, determination, and a commitment to excellence. Despite facing setbacks, such as a disrupted training camp due to COVID-19, Elsie has continued to push forward, demonstrating her passion for the sport and unwavering dedication to her craft. Her strong finish in the 2023 season, securing second place at the NZ National Open Championships, set the stage for a promising start to her 2024 campaign, despite the challenges she encountered early on. Elsie’s tenacity was evident as she navigated through the ups and downs of her first year of university while striving to maintain her training regimen, a balancing act that required resilience and adaptability.

As Elsie continues to overcome obstacles and fine-tune her skills, her recent performances reflect her growing confidence and determination. Placing third in the individual tournament and clinching first in the teams event at the National Junior Challenge in Christchurch are testament to her resilience and ability to bounce back from setbacks. These results, especially after a rocky start to the season, speak volumes about Elsie’s mental fortitude and her capacity to excel under pressure. With her sights set on the upcoming Commonwealth Junior Fencing Championships in Christchurch, Elsies determination to secure selection for the event underscores her unwavering commitment to achieving success at the highest levels of competition in the sport she loves.
