Boxer Alexis Pritchard left disappointed - 3 News
By Robert Lowe
A disappointed Alexis Pritchard was left ruing a missed opportunity after losing her first-round lightweight boxing bout at the Commonwealth Games.
The No.2-ranked fighter in the 60kg field, Pritchard fell to Dominica's Alanna Audley-Murphy by unanimous decision on Tuesday.
The Aucklander had gone into the unseeded event, part of women's boxing debut on the Games programme, happy with her draw.
"I've probably blown it a little bit, to be honest," she said.
"I've missed a really good opportunity for myself and for Boxing New Zealand and for women's boxing.
"I'm sorry, women out there, boxers out there. I really wanted to bring home a medal."
