Meribel World Cup - Peter Bethell

Peter Bethell - Meribel France for Downhill World Cup. Don Oliver Youth Sport scholarship recipient.
On the weekend was my first World Cup, in Meribel France. It was my introduction to international racing and warm up for the World Championships in about two weeks time, in Norway. In the week before the World Cup I got a chance to do some riding in the mountains around Meribel. It is so awesome being able to jump on the gondolas and chairlifts, catch them up a massive mountain to then ride some awesome tracks back down.

The World Cup track was super cool, it was so much bigger and more intense than any other tracks I have done before. The steep rocky and technical sections were so fun to ride, I totally injoyed training on the track. In my qualifying run on the Friday I didn't manage to put together a clean run and missed out on a top 30 finish to race on Saturday. It was still such a cool experience to compete at such a big event.

The crowds were massive on Saturday and it was really impressive watching the elite racing. The atmosphere for the World Cup final was buzzing and truly awesome to experience. I am really looking forward to racing at the Worlds in Norway, but in the meantime I am in Morzine to do some riding and training.

I can't thank everyone enough for all the support I have received, to be over here in these amazing places doing what I love, riding and racing my bike! Thank you.
