Dion Smith Impresses In Tour Of California
Twenty-two year old Kiwi rider Dion Smith has finished fifth overall in the young rider category after the completing the Amgen Tour of California in Los Angeles.

Smith, who rides for the Hincapie Racing Team based in USA, was 21st on overall general classification, less than five minutes down on winner, Peter Sagan who won by just three seconds after grabbing a vital time bonus in a frantic sprint for third place in the final stage.
Smith was prominent throughout the eight-stage tour to continue a strong season. He won the youth classification and was fourth on general classification and points in the Joe Martin stage race near Arkansas two weeks ago.
Compatriot James Oram was 37th overall on general classification and eighth in the youth classification in the Tour of California riding for the Axeon Cycling Team.
The pair represented New Zealand in the junior elite ranks at last year’s UCI Road World Championships.
