Blessing has already marked himself out as one to watch as a future potential Olympian in shot put and discus.

In Dec 2022 he won the NZ Secondary Schools Nationals, Senior Boys, shotput title, with a throw of 17.74m (5kg). This was followed by competition at the Classics Series of Senior Open Meets across New Zealand. This gave him invaluable experience in shot with the likes of Tom Walsh and Ryan Ballantyne.
 

He went on to win gold in the U20 Mens Shotput 16.58m (6kg), and Bronze in the U20 Mens Discus 46.90m (1.75k) at the NZ Track and Field Championships, before comfortably winning Senior Boys titles for shotput and discus at the Auckland College Sport Championships.  He topped this by sweeping the shotput and discus golds for Senior Boys at the North Island Secondary Schools Champs.
 

His next major comp will be NZ Secondary School Nationals in December 2023, then he will aim for Australia Track and Field Champs next year in April. During this next domestic season, Blessing will also be focusing on a hard winter training programme to get him to the U20 World Championships in August.
