
Alex Dunkley
Achievements:
Alex Dunkley is one of New Zealand’s leading open water swimmers, currently ranked #1 nationally and representing Roskill Swimming Club under coach Josh Munro. Competing under Swimming New Zealand, Alex specialises in both competitive pool swimming and open water endurance events.
Alex has established himself as a dominant performer in New Zealand open water swimming, winning the Swimming New Zealand Open Water 10km National Championship for three consecutive years. He has also claimed victory in the NZ Banana Boat Ocean Swim Series for three consecutive seasons, demonstrating consistent excellence across the country’s premier open water events.
Internationally, Alex represented New Zealand at the World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships in Sardinia, Italy, competing in both the 10km event and the 3km knockout sprint, gaining valuable experience against the world’s top young open water swimmers.
Following a recent shoulder injury, Alex is focused on a full recovery while continuing to develop his strength and conditioning alongside high-performance training to return to international competition.
