Amy Thompson is a promising young New Zealand distance runner competing in track and cross country, currently ranked #2 nationally in the Under-17 age group. She represents the Oratia Running Club and is coached by Mark Trotman, competing within the New Zealand Secondary Schools Athletics Association (NZSSAA) pathway.

Amy has achieved strong results across both track and cross country competitions, with standout performances at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships, North Island Secondary Schools Championships, and Auckland Secondary Schools Championships. Her achievements include winning the 3000m and 2000m steeplechase titles at the North Island Secondary Schools Championships, as well as setting an Auckland Secondary Schools record in the 2000m steeplechase.

She has also demonstrated consistent success in cross country, earning podium finishes at regional and national school championships, including a silver medal at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Cross Country Championships.

Amy’s performances have earned her selection to represent New Zealand at the Australian Cross Country Championships in 2025, marking an important milestone in her development as one of the country’s emerging distance running talents.
