Blessing Sefo is a rising New Zealand shot put athlete, representing Waitākere City Athletics Club and coached by John Eden, competing under Athletics New Zealand. Competing in the Open Senior Men’s division, Blessing is currently ranked #4 in New Zealand.

Blessing has achieved strong success across national and international competitions, progressing rapidly through the junior ranks into senior competition. He represented New Zealand at the World U20 Athletics Championships in Lima, Peru, where he advanced to the final and placed 12th overall, an impressive result on the world stage.

Domestically, Blessing has won multiple national titles in the U20 men’s shot put and earned podium finishes at both the New Zealand Track and Field Championships and the Australian Track and Field Championships. Since transitioning into the Open Senior Men’s division, he has continued to improve his performances, recording multiple personal best throws and establishing himself among New Zealand’s top senior shot put athletes.

His throw of 18.61 metres places him among the top ten shot putters of all time in New Zealand, highlighting his continued progression and potential in the sport.

Blessing’s current focus is on continuing to improve his performances at the senior level, with the goal of qualifying for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the 2026 Oceania Athletics Championships in Darwin.
